About Judy White

Born in 1947, the daughter of folk-blues singer Josh White, Judy White first sang in church aged 12, then at 19 she was providing backing vocals for her father on stage. At the same time she was recording for Epic and Buddah as one half of Bongi & Judy (Bongi being the daughter of Miriam Makeba); their 1967 'Running Out' written by Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson made the U.S. Top 10. The following year Judy was singin solo, recording three 45s for Buddah in quick succession.
