Xabier Amuriza

Innovative and pioneer Basque Bertsolari, writer, journalist, teacher and politician. Born in 1941 in Zornotza (Bizkaia) he became priest in 1965 and was imprisoned in 1968 for seven years during Franco's dictatorship. In 1976 he quit the church to work in all the above mentioned. He was elected two times best Bertsolari of the Basque Country in 1980 and 1982.
