MÜL was established in Norway, 2000 as a one-man doom metal project, primarily influenced by the great, but forgotten Sevenchurch and Winter's timeless Into Darkness / Eternal Frost. Later direct influences were Funeral, Skepticism, Corrupted, Esoteric, Cathedral, Earth, early Anathema, early My Dying Bride, Grief, Khanate, Reverend Bizarre, Electric Wizard, Neurosis, Disembowelment, early Tangerine Dream, early Isis, Saint Vitus, Shape of Despair, Eyehategod and so on.
