Pál Járdányi

Pál Járdányi (born in Budapest, 30 Jan. 1920; died there, 29 July 1966). Composer and music critic. At the Budapest Academy of Music he studied composition with Zoltán Kodály and Albert Siklos (1938-42); he was also a pupil at Budapest Univ. and received a doctorate in 1943, with a dissertation on Hungarian folklore. He worked as music critic from 1943 to 1949, and from 1946 to 1959 he was an instructor at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest.
