About Maurice Karkoff
b. March 17, 1927 - Stockholm, Sweden Swedish composer and music critic. Karkoff studied at the Stockholm Musikhögskolan. He studied with Lars-Erik Larsson, Karl-Birger Blomdahl, Erland von Koch, André Jolivet and Vogel. He was assistant musi critic for Stockholms-tidningen (1962-66). He became a member of the Swedish Royal Academy of Music in 1977. "In his music he broke away in the 1950s from his Swedish contemporaries, enthusiastically experimenting with a wide range of new forms and techniques.
