The Alkaloids

The band the Alkaloids was founded in 2008 by Sjoerd Versluis and Machiel Hoogenboom after their band ‘De Niets’ came to an end. Inspired by bands like System of a Down, Queens of the Stone Age, Triggerfinger, Karma to Burn and Kyuss they started writing songs. After a while Dirk Jan Versluis joined them on guitar. After a half year of rocking without a singer they found vocalist Marlinde Kieviet to complete the band. The first months of 2009 were used to complete the existing instrumental songs with vocals and lyrics.
