Otomaru

Otomaru (音丸 (December 8, 1906 – January 18, 1976) was a Japanese singer who was active during the Taisho and Showa periods. Her real name was Matsuko Nagai. She was born in Azabu Tansumachi, Tokyo. Otomaru was a geisha active from the 1930s onward. She is best known for her 1935 hit "Sendo Kawaiya" and traditional folk songs like "Tanko-Bushi" . Born on December 8, 1906 (Meiji 39), as the only daughter of Ikukichi Nagai, the owner of a long-established shoe store in Azabu.
