About Philip Koutev Ensemble
About the Group Philip Koutev (1903-1982) founded this group 1951 to authentically perform Bulgarian folk music. Its members were originally recruited for the smallest villages through out Bulgaria and have been a model for ensembles that have followed. The Group is currently led by Philip's daughter Elena Kouteva.
