Josep Antoni Martí

Josep Antoni Martí (Tortosa , Baix Ebre, 1719 - Montserrat , Bages, January 3, 1763), also known as Josep Martí, was a Catalan musician pedagogue and composer. He was the first renovator of the Escola de Montserrat, well-trained in the late Italian Baroque style. Little or nothing is known of his formative years. It is known that, in 1749, he left his job as organist and teacher in the chapel of the church of La Soledad, in Madrid, to become a monk in Montserrat.
