Born in Lanark on 14th June 1980 1995-1998-Scottish National Jazz Institute under the direction of Saxophonist Tommy Smith 1999 Finalist in the Scottish Young Jazz Musician of the Year competition 2000 Johnny Dankworth Award for the Most Promising Young Talent on the live broadcast of the BBC Big Band Competition 2001 Graduated from the Strathclyde University BA in Applied Music course with First Class Honours-awarded the Sir Alexander Stone Award for Best Solo Performance
