About Volckmar Leisring

Volckmar Leisring , in the sources also Volkmar or Leissringk or Leisringius (born around 1588 in Gebstedt , died 1637 in Buchfart) was a German cantor, composer and Protestant pastor. From 1606 Leisring studied theology in Jena . His friends and fellow students included Johann Matthäus Meyfart and Caspar von Teutleben . During his time in Jena, Leisring had a celebratory speech printed under the title Corona Musices , i.e. “To praise music”.
