Engin Gürkey

Engin Gürkey was born in Istanbul in 1967. He began his study of music in 1976 in the percussion department of Istanbul Municipal Conservatory. A 1992 graduate of the Istanbul University State Conservatory, Gürkey became a member of the teaching faculty at this institution the same year. In 1994, he completed his Doctorate degree, also in the percussion department. Gürkey plays classical percussion as well as Latin American and African percussion instruments.
