About Michaël Attias
New York City-based saxophonist/composer Michaël Attias was born in Haifa, Israel in 1968. He had a Parisian childhood, Moroccan parents, and a Midwestern adolescence. He played violin as a child in Paris, studied the saxophone with Pat Moriarty in Minneapolis, spent a year at the NYU Film School, took some lessons with Lee Konitz, attended Alan Silva’s school back in Paris, sat in on Anthony Braxton’s courses at Wesleyan University for a semester, and moved to New York in 1994.
