The band's musical philosophy is reflected in the meaning of its name:Karneval is the Serbian and German word for carnival, a word which dates to medieval times and probably derives from the Latin carnem levare or the Italian carnelevare (removal of flesh) whereas the word “flesh” is used in both its alimentary and erotic senses. Celebrated widely across Europe in the early modern period during the days preceding Lent, Carnival perpetuated the pre-Christian rites of farmers and herders
