Under the direction of George Manahan, who was Music Director for 14 seasons, the New York City Opera Orchestra performed approximately 116 performances of opera each year during Fall and Spring New York City Opera Seasons at New York State Theater at Lincoln Center. NYCO terminated its contract with Maestro Manahan in 2011, and now has no music director. The company was recently uprooted from its Lincoln Center home of over 60 years, despite the protests of many loyal patrons and audience members, as well as the orchestra members.
