About Andres de Torrentes
Andres de Torrentes (c. 1520 - 1580) was a Spanish composer, organist and clergyman. He worked as chapel master in three different periods in the Cathedral of Santa María de Toledo, the direct predecessor in this position of Cristóbal Morales, he was the one who introduced in 1576, shortly before his death, the music for the Tridentine liturgy that began to be implemented at that time in the Iberian Peninsula. In 1542 he was commissioned by Archbishop Juan Tavera to direct the compilation of several ecclesial books of polyphonic music
