John Carter & Russ Alquist were a late-sixties psychedelic rock duo. In 1968 they teamed up for one single "The Laughing Man / Midsummer Dreaming" on the Silver Spark label. John Carter was born John Nicholas Shakespeare in Small Heath near Birmingham, UK on 20 October 1942. He was one half on the song-writing duo Carter-Lewis with Ken Lewis, which wrote many hits in the 1960s for various pop bands. Carter was in various groups such as Carter-Lewis and the Southerners
