About The Scientist

Chris Martin wrote "The Scientist" after listening to George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass". In an interview with Rolling Stone, Martin revealed that while working on the band's second album, A Rush of Blood to the Head, he knew that the album was missing something. One night, during a stay in Liverpool, Martin found an old piano that was out of tune. He wanted to work on George Harrison's song "Isn't It a Pity", but he could not manage to do so. .

The Scientist Lyrics

[00:14.79] Come up to meet you, tell ya I'm sorry
[00:22.20]
[00:34.03] You don't know how lovely you are
[00:39.12]
[00:41.37] I had to find you, tell ya I need you
[00:47.46] Tell you I set you apart
[00:54.35] Tell me your secrets and ask me your questions
[01:00.73] Oh, let's go back to the start
[01:07.25] Runnin' in circles, comin' up tails
[01:13.74] Heads on a science apart
[01:19.80] Nobody said it was easy
[01:26.86] It's such a shame for us to part
[01:33.17] Nobody said it was easy
[01:39.51] No one ever said it would be this hard
[01:48.48] Oh, take me back to the start
[01:52.55]
[02:19.85] I was just guessing at numbers and figures
[02:26.42] Pulling the puzzles apart
[02:32.73] Questions of science, science and progress
[02:39.61] Do not speak as loud as my heart
[02:45.77] But tell me you love me, come back and haunt me
[02:52.49] Oh, and I rush to the start
[02:58.89] Runnin' in circles, chasin' our tails
[03:05.59] Coming back as we are
[03:11.62] Nobody said it was easy
[03:18.33] Oh, it's such a shame for us to part
[03:24.98] Nobody said it was easy
[03:31.35] No one ever said it would be so hard
[03:37.24]
[03:40.34] I'm going back to the start
[03:43.24]
