"What About Us?" is an edgy, high-tech, female empowerment song by Brandy from her 2002 album Full Moon. It was released as the album's lead single on January 1, 2002, and reached number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 that March. The song is about a failing relationship. Brandy wanted an aggressive, sexier and edgier sound with a message which would empower women while also reflecting her own growth and maturity. Several remixes were released to promote the song. .
