About Too Many People

"Too Many People" is a song by Paul (and Linda) McCartney from his 1971 album Ram as well as the B-side of the "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" single. The song is one of several instances of "musical sniping" among the four Beatles after the band broke up, the target in this case presumed to be McCartney's former bandmate and songwriting partner John Lennon. "[John had] been doing a lot of preaching, and it got up my nose a little bit," said McCartney in a 1984 interview with Playboy. .

Too Many People Lyrics

[00:01.64] Piece of cake, eh, eh
[00:08.83]
[00:26.28] Too many people going underground
[00:31.44] Too many reaching for a piece of cake
[00:36.44] Too many people pulled and pushed around
[00:41.49] Too many waiting for that lucky break
[00:45.70] That was your first mistake
[00:50.76] You took your lucky break and broke it in two
[00:59.44] Now what can be done for you?
[01:04.52] You broke it in two
[01:11.14] Too many people sharing party lines
[01:16.77] Too many people never sleeping late
[01:21.46] Too many people paying parking fines
[01:26.66] Too many hungry people losing weight
[01:31.80] That was your first mistake
[01:36.96] You took your lucky break and broke it in two
[01:45.00] Now what can be done for you?
[01:50.19] You broke it in two
[01:53.69]
[02:20.16] Too many people breaching practices
[02:24.98] Don't let them tell you what you wanna be
[02:29.97] Too many people holding back
[02:33.93] This is crazy babe, it's not like me
[02:40.02] That was your last mistake
[02:45.37] I find my love awake and waiting to be
[02:52.96] Now what can be done for you?
[02:57.94] She's waiting for me, oh
[03:03.47]
