The subconscious and subconscious fear is a big theme in a lot of film noir so I had that on the mind - sequences of abstract and surreal images to convey an innerworld and whatnot. I was drawn to the shadow and smoke heavy visuals in a lot of those films, the whole world they take place in kind of has its own dream logic and a hallucinatory aspect - things shift continually. .
