On “Day Before,” Young Thug and Mac Miller discuss how they were treated before they were famous, hence the song’s title. Shortly after the release of Punk, Thugger revealed that the track was recorded on September 6, 2018, coincidentally the “day before” Miller tragically passed away, adding further meaning to the song’s poignant title. The track originally leaked on July 10, 2019, with verses from Thug, Mac Miller, and Trippie Redd, but Trippie’s verse was not included on the final album version, released October 15, 2021. .
