About Bennie & Kay
(Started in Alaska, finished in Asheville) Losing both of my grandparents in the space of 12 months was difficult. The first half of this song was written when my grandmother was alive and my grandfather was dead. She told me she just wanted to die, and that's what the first verse is about. This whole song is sort of a letter to my grandfather, when I say “Your Wife” I mean my grandmother. The second half is written after my grandmother had passed. .
