About Never Here

"Never Here" is the fourth track to Oliver Sim's debut studio album "Hideous Bastard". He said the following about the track: "I talk a lot about memory on this album, and this song asks the question of just how reliable my memory can be and how, maybe, technology warps how I remember things. It’s also, sonically, one of the heaviest songs on the record, which was really fun for me. The music that I really got into as a teenager was either from my sister’s record collection .

Never Here Lyrics

[00:15.22] I have proof that I was here
[00:18.58] But a feeling like I wasn't
[00:23.19] Just as soon as it appeared
[00:26.91] It's gone all of a sudden
[00:31.22] I don't own the memory
[00:34.53] Though the quality is vivid
[00:39.12] Though I was there in reality
[00:42.91] I wasn't quite in spirit
[00:47.10] I find I'm reminded
[00:50.17] Of a time and place I've never been
[00:52.67] Lord knows how I find it
[00:55.84] I guess the memory must've meant something to me
[00:59.31] I just didn't picture from my train
[01:04.07] Pictures fail, technology breaks
[01:09.32] Another moment done exist
[01:11.32] Where then it's color and shape are taken in
[01:15.65] Just to throw it away
[01:17.64] Throw it away, throw it away
[01:20.37]
[01:36.12] Tampered with their memory
[01:38.16] Allows me to read alone, fella
[01:44.19] Moments are temporary
[01:46.43] Can't take no more from the summer
[01:51.17] When the sky could be more blue
[01:54.45] There's no reason why I wouldn't
[01:58.59] No one getting farther from the truth
[02:02.93] This badge all means better
[02:08.06] Pictures fail, technology breaks
[02:13.28] Another moment done exist
[02:15.55] Where then it's color and shape are taken in
[02:19.67] Just to throw it away
[02:21.51] Flow it away, flow it away
[02:24.83]
[02:30.77] I was never really needed
[02:33.80]
[02:38.74] I was never really needed
[02:44.90] I was never real
[02:48.90]
[02:54.68] I was never really needed
[02:58.50]
[03:02.66] I was never really needed
[03:07.22] I don't care
[03:10.00]
