"Irene" is the closing track from Beach House's fourth studio album Bloom, which was released on May 15, 2012. Often stated as one of the band's favorite songs to record, the song features a more stronger and repetitive build-up than the other tracks from the accompanying album. The song begins with wind-like sound effects that slowly fade out; these are crossed over from the previous track "On the Sea". After singing its two verses and chorus, a single guitar and keyboard note is repeated in the middle of the track .
