"Coconuts" was the second single from Kim Petras’ scrapped debut album, Problématique. Ahead of the live debut of Coconuts on the MTV EMAs, a pre-save link appeared online for the single. On November 23, 2021, Kim surprised fans by announcing "Coconuts" would come out earlier than expected on December 3, 2021. The song is a tongue-in-cheek ode to breasts, Kim infuses the campy song with double entendres and humorous euphemisms. .
