About Burn

Burn is a hard rock song by British rock band Deep Purple. It was released on the album of the same name in 1974, and was the first song by the Mark III lineup. The song remained the band's concert opener for the next two years, taking over from "Highway Star". It opened Deep Purple's set on the California Jam two months after its release, on April 6, 1974. After the Deep Purple 1984 reunion, the song was no longer played, as Ian Gillan, who David Coverdale replaced .

Burn Lyrics

[00:20.45] The sky is red, I don't understand
[00:22.50] Past midnight I still see the land
[00:25.12] People are sayin' the woman is damned
[00:27.42] She makes you burn with a wave of her hand
[00:32.69]
[00:35.25] The city's ablaze, the town's on fire
[00:37.32] The woman's flames are reaching higher
[00:39.86] We were fools, we called her liar
[00:42.20] All I hear is "Burn!"
[00:48.19]
[01:04.10] I didn't believe she was devil's sperm
[01:06.26] She said, "Curse you all, you'll never learn
[01:08.79] When I leave there's no return."
[01:11.00] The people laughed till she said, "Burn!"
[01:15.82]
[01:18.75] Warning came, no one cared
[01:20.84] Earth was shakin', we stood and stared
[01:23.44] When it came no one was spared
[01:25.94] Still I hear "Burn!"
[01:42.52]
[01:48.54] You know we had no time
[01:52.68] We could not even try
[01:58.04] You know we had no time
[02:08.56]
[03:36.61] You know we had no time
[03:41.47] We could not even try
[03:46.12] You know we had no time
[03:56.70]
[05:00.52] The sky is red, I don't understand
[05:02.54] Past midnight I still see the land
[05:04.96] People are sayin' the woman is damned
[05:07.08] She makes you burn with a wave of her hand
[05:14.59] Warning came, no one cared
[05:16.68] Earth was shakin, we stood and stared
[05:19.23] When it came no one was spared
[05:21.62] Still I hear "Burn!"
[05:32.36]
