Released in the first quarter of 1985, "Don't You (Forget About Me)" was taken from the soundtrack to John Hughes's film, The Breakfast Club. The single became a major success for the band, hitting #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, #7 on the UK Official Charts, #4 on the German charts, and the top ten on several major markets. Billboard Magazine ranked "Don't You (Forget About Me)" as the 16th biggest single of 1985 in the U.S. The song was also used in the prom scene of Hughes's 1986 film Pretty In Pink. .
