About First Of May

"First of May" is a song by the Bee Gees with lead vocals by Barry Gibb, released as a single from their 1969 double album Odessa. Its B-side was "Lamplight". On the 1996 reissue of this single, its flipside was "How Deep Is Your Love" as the song re-entered the charts in Japan reaching No. 25. It was used as a B-side of "Melody Fair" in 1971 on the Melody soundtrack as well as in 1976 and 1980 on RSO Records.[2] Also in 1980, sometimes, it was chosen as the A-side with "Melody Fair" as the B-side only in Japan. .

First Of May Lyrics

[00:15.97] When I was small and Christmas trees were tall
[00:23.53] We used to love while others used to play
[00:31.08] Don't ask me why but time has passed us by
[00:40.71] Someone else moved in from far away
[00:48.35] Now we are tall and Christmas trees are small
[00:55.53] And you don't ask the time of day
[01:03.31] But you and I, our love will never die
[01:09.96] But guess we'll cry come first of May
[01:19.46] The Apple tree that grew for you and me
[01:26.45] I watched the apples falling one by one
[01:33.01] And I recall the moment of them all
[01:40.47] The day I kissed your cheek and you were gone
[01:48.82] Now we are tall and Christmas trees are small
[01:56.40] And you don't ask the time of day
[02:03.53] But you and I, our love will never die
[02:10.03] But guess we'll cry come first of May
[02:19.28] When I was small and Christmas trees were tall
[02:27.10] Do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do
[02:34.60] Don't ask me why but time has passed us by
[02:43.02] Someone else moved in from far away
[02:48.32]
