About Riders on the Storm

"Riders on the Storm" is a song by The Doors from their 1971 album, L.A. Woman; it reached number 14 on the charts. According to band member Robby Krieger, it was inspired by the song, "(Ghost) Riders in the Sky: A Cowboy Legend". The song is played in the E Dorian mode, and incorporates real sound effects of thunder and rain, along with Ray Manzarek's Fender Rhodes electric piano playing, which emulates the sound of rain. The song's lyrics allude in part to the notorious spree killer Billy Cook .

Riders on the Storm Lyrics

[00:46.32] Riders on the storm
[00:50.83] Riders on the storm
[00:55.39] Into this house we're born
[01:00.08] Into this world we're thrown
[01:04.27] Like a dog without a bone, an actor out on loan
[01:09.75] Riders on the storm
[01:13.70] There's a killer on the road
[01:18.23] His brain is squirmin' like a toad
[01:23.54] Take a long holiday
[01:28.46] Let your children play
[01:32.69] If you give this man a ride, sweet memory will die
[01:37.98] Killer on the road, yeah
[01:43.80]
[02:14.90] Girl, you gotta love your man
[02:19.70] Girl, you gotta love your man
[02:24.97] Take him by the hand
[02:29.84] Make him understand
[02:34.39] The world on you depends, our life will never end
[02:39.39] Gotta love your man, yeah
[02:45.24]
[05:02.43] Riders on the storm
[05:07.10] Riders on the storm
[05:11.66] Into this house we're born
[05:16.40] Into this world we're thrown
[05:20.87] Like a dog without a bone, an actor out on loan
[05:26.30] Riders on the storm
[05:29.99]
[05:49.54] Riders on the storm
[05:54.00] Riders on the storm
[05:58.81] Riders on the storm
[06:03.59] Riders on the storm
