About Bus Stop

This was written by future 10cc member Graham Gouldman. According to the Bus Stop Songfacts, Gouldman said in a Manchester newspaper he wrote this whilst riding on a No. 95 bus. It ran from East Didsbury - the route went through Manchester city centre, to Sedgeley Park, Cheetham Hill, Prestwich, and on to Whitefield near Bury. Graham was living with his family on this route in Broughton Park Salford at the time. He also said in a 1998 live performance that while waiting at the bus stop .

Bus Stop Lyrics

[00:07.46] Bus stop, wet day, she's there, I say
[00:11.73] "Please, share my umbrella"
[00:14.14] Bus stop, bus goes, she stays, love grows
[00:17.65] Under my umbrella
[00:21.11] All that summer, we enjoyed it
[00:24.41] Wind and rain and shine
[00:28.15] And that umbrella, we employed it
[00:31.60] By August, she was mine
[00:35.44] Every mornin', I would see her waiting at the stop
[00:41.52] Sometimes she'd shopped and she would show me what she bought
[00:48.98] All the people stared as if we were both quite insane
[00:55.41] Someday my name and hers are going to be the same
[01:04.03] That's the way the whole thing started
[01:07.22] Silly but it's true
[01:10.73] Thinkin' of a sweet romance
[01:14.32] Beginning in a queue
[01:17.84] Came the sun, the ice was melting
[01:21.48] No more sheltering now
[01:24.61] Nice to think that that umbrella
[01:28.58] Led me to a vow
[01:31.62]
[01:34.13]
[01:46.19] Every mornin', I would see her waiting at the stop
[01:51.86] Sometimes she'd shopped and she would show me what she bought
[01:59.44] All the people stared as if we were both quite insane
[02:05.79] Someday my name and hers are going to be the same
[02:14.15] On bus stop, wet day, she's there, I say
[02:17.72] "Please, share my umbrella"
[02:20.99] Bus stop, bus goes, she stays, love grows
[02:24.85] Under my umbrella
[02:27.83] All that summer, we enjoyed it
[02:31.33] Wind and rain and shine
[02:35.25] That umbrella, we employed it
[02:38.68] By August, she was mine
[02:42.51]
