“The Calendar” is about both the end of a relationship and the departure of Ryan Ross and Jon Walker from the band. Brendon Urie told MTV News that the song started off as a breakup song but later turned into a track about the Panic! split. Brendon Urie told MTV News how this song was about Jon Walker and Ryan Ross leaving the band: “It was about a guy and a girl, a kind of a story, but the more we looked at the lyrics, we felt that it really tied into the experience of Ryan and Jon leaving, and it was weird. .
