About I'm A Man
"I'm a Man" is a popular American song written and released by Bo Diddley in March 1955 on Checker Records as the b-side to his hit "Bo Diddley". The writing credit is under Diddley's real name, Ellas McDaniel. Based on Muddy Waters' 1951 blues song "She Moves Me", Waters recorded a cover of "I'm a Man" in May 1955, retitled "Mannish Boy," a play on words on Bo Diddley's younger age as it related to the primary theme of the song. The song is ranked #369 on the Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. .
I'm A Man Lyrics
[00:08.03] Now when I was a little boy,
[00:11.07] At the age of five,
[00:14.16] I had somethin' in my pocket,
[00:17.15] Keep a lot of folks alive.
[00:20.23] Now I'm a man,
[00:23.25] Made twenty-one,
[00:26.24] You know baby,
[00:29.20] We can have a lot of fun.
[00:32.26] I'm a man,
[00:35.28] I spell M-A-N... man.
[00:58.31] All you pretty women,
[01:01.48] Stand in line,
[01:03.45] I can make love to you baby,
[01:06.42] In an hour's time.
[01:09.53] I'm a man,
[01:12.51] I spell M-A-N... man.
[01:43.67] I goin' back down,
[01:46.79] To Kansas to
[01:48.89] Bring back the second cousin,
[01:51.89] Little John the conqueroo.
[01:54.82] I'm a man,
[01:57.83] I spell M-A-N... man.
[02:20.08] The line I shoot,
[02:23.05] Will never miss,
[02:26.14] The way I make love to 'em,
[02:28.10] They can't resist.
[02:31.20] I'm a man,
[02:34.13] I spell M-A-N... man.
