About Daniel

"Daniel" is the first single from Bat for Lashes' second album, Two Suns. The song was announced as the lead single from Two Suns in January 2009. The track was written by Natasha Khan and produced by David Kosten, as with all tracks on the album. Khan said in an interview with The Sun newspaper that Daniel was based on a fictional character that she fell in love with as a teenager.[1] The single's cover features Khan with an image of the character Daniel LaRusso, from the film The Karate Kid, painted on her back. .

Daniel Lyrics

[00:22.27] Daniel, when I first saw you
[00:27.78] I knew that you had a flame in your heart
[00:35.35] And under wild blue skies
[00:38.26] Marble movie skies
[00:42.06] I found a home in your eyes
[00:44.55] We'll never be apart
[00:49.96] And when the fires came
[00:53.80]
[01:06.52] The smell of cinders and rain
[01:09.10] Perfumed almost everything
[01:12.93] We laughed and laughed and laughed
[01:18.45] And in the golden-blue car
[01:21.95] You took me to the darkest place
[01:26.89]
[01:29.28] And set fire to my heart
[01:33.03] When I run in the dark, Daniel
[01:37.92] To a place that's vast, Daniel
[01:46.55] Under a sheet of rain in my heart
[01:52.20] Daniel, I dream of home
[02:00.32]
[02:27.98] But in a goodbye bed
[02:28.48] With my arms around your neck
[02:31.43] Into our love the tears crept
[02:32.53] Just kids in the eye of the storm
[02:33.03] And as my house spun round
[02:33.51] My dreams pulled me from the ground
[02:34.19] Forever to search for the flame
[02:36.81] For home again, for home again
[02:38.24] When I run in the dark, Daniel
[02:45.70]
[02:50.68] To a place that's vast, Daniel
[02:57.45] Under a sheet of rain in my heart
[03:03.12] Daniel, I dream of home
[03:12.02] When I run in the dark, Daniel
[03:18.38] To a place that's vast, Daniel
[03:26.50] Under a sheet of rain in my heart
[03:31.00] Daniel, I dream of home
[03:36.48]
