About Cotton Eye Joe
Cotton Eye Joe is a song by the Swedish Eurodance group Rednex, released in August 1994 by Jive and Zomba as the lead single from their debut studio album, Sex & Violins (1995). Based on the traditional American folk song "Cotton-Eyed Joe", it blends the group's Eurodance style with traditional American instruments like the banjo and fiddle. The song was written by Janne Ericsson, Örjan "Öban" Öberg, and Pat Reiniz, and produced by Reiniz. The vocal verses are performed by Annika Ljungberg .
Cotton Eye Joe Lyrics
[00:00.24] If it hadn't been for Cotton-Eye Joe
[00:01.98] I'd been married long time ago
[00:03.75] Where did you come from, where did you go?
[00:05.53] Where did you come from, Cotton-Eye Joe?
[00:07.33] If it hadn't been for Cotton-Eye Joe
[00:09.28] I'd been married long time ago
[00:11.05] Where did you come from, where did you go?
[00:12.85] Where did you come from, Cotton-Eye Joe?
[00:15.92]
[00:21.97] If it hadn't been for Cotton-Eye Joe
[00:23.72] I'd been married long time ago
[00:25.41] Where did you come from, where did you go?
[00:27.41] Where did you come from, Cotton-Eye Joe?
[00:29.24] If it hadn't been for Cotton-Eye Joe
[00:31.06] I'd been married long time ago
[00:32.83] Where did you come from, where did you go?
[00:34.72] Where did you come from, Cotton-Eye Joe?
[00:37.70]
[00:51.13] He came to town like a midwinter storm
[00:54.31] He rode through the fields, so handsome and strong
[00:57.97] His eyes was his tools and his smile was his gun
[01:01.52] But all he had come for was having some fun
[01:05.63] If it hadn't been for Cotton-Eye Joe
[01:07.34] I'd been married long time ago
[01:09.18] Where did you come from, where did you go?
[01:10.95] Where did you come from, Cotton-Eye Joe?
[01:12.89] If it hadn't been for Cotton-Eye Joe
[01:14.54] I'd been married long time ago
[01:16.49] Where did you come from, where did you go?
[01:18.27] Where did you come from, Cotton-Eye Joe?
[01:21.22]
[01:34.88] He brought disaster wherever he went
[01:38.18] The hearts of the girls was to Hell, broken, sent
[01:41.90] They all ran away so nobody would know
[01:45.33] And left only men 'cause of Cotton-Eye Joe
[01:49.27] If it hadn't been for Cotton-Eye Joe
[01:51.16] I'd been married long time ago
[01:52.96] Where did you come from, where did you go?
[01:54.71] Where did you come from, Cotton-Eye Joe?
[01:56.64] If it hadn't been for Cotton-Eye Joe
[01:58.32] I'd been married long time ago
