About Mr. Jones

"Mr. Jones" is a song by American alternative rock band Counting Crows. It is the lead single and third track from their debut album "August and Everything After". It was the band's first radio hit and remains one of their most popular singles. "Mr. Jones" entered the American Top 40 on February 19, 1994, and entered the Top 10 five weeks later. On April 23, "Mr. Jones" passed R. Kelly's "Bump n' Grind", taking the number-one position (which it surrendered, the following week, to Prince's "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World"). .

Mr. Jones Lyrics

[00:06.10] Sha, la, la, la, la, la, la
[00:10.28] Mmm
[00:11.78] Uh huh
[00:13.65] I was down at the New Amsterdam
[00:18.14] Staring at this yellow-haired girl
[00:20.89] Mr Jones strikes up a conversation
[00:24.04] With a black-haired flamenco dancer
[00:27.71] You know, she dances while his father plays guitar
[00:32.09] She's suddenly beautiful
[00:34.35] We all want something beautiful
[00:38.22] Man, I wish I was beautiful
[00:40.92] So come dance the silence down through the morning
[00:45.74] Sha la, la, la, la, la, la, la
[00:48.58] Yeah
[00:50.14] Uh huh
[00:53.38] Yeah
[00:55.34] Cut up, Maria!
[00:58.34] Show me some of that Spanish dancin'
[01:01.89] Pass me a bottle, Mr Jones
[01:08.89] Believe in me
[01:12.05] Help me believe in anything
[01:14.94] 'Cause I want to be someone who believes
[01:20.31] Yeah
[01:22.53] Mr Jones and me
[01:25.76] Tell each other fairy tales
[01:28.65] And we stare at the beautiful women
[01:31.75] She's looking at you
[01:33.60] Ah, no, no, she's looking at me
[01:36.06] Smilin' in the bright lights
[01:39.10] Coming through in stereo
[01:42.29] When everybody loves you
[01:46.16] You can never be lonely
[01:49.18] Well, I'm gonna paint my picture
[01:52.87] Paint myself in blue and red and black and gray
[01:56.32] All of the beautiful colors are very, very meaningful
[02:01.52] Yeah, well, you know grey is my favorite color
[02:05.47] I felt so symbolic yesterday
[02:10.06] If I knew Picasso
[02:12.44] I would buy myself a grey guitar and play
[02:16.87] Mr Jones and me
[02:20.01] Look into the future
[02:22.76] Yeah, we stare at the beautiful women
[02:26.08] She's looking at you
[02:27.86] I don't think so
[02:28.95] She's looking at me
[02:30.33] Standing in the spotlight
[02:33.34] I bought myself a grey guitar
[02:36.30] When everybody loves me
[02:40.38] I will never be lonely
[02:45.74] I will never be lonely
[02:48.99] Said I'm never gonna be
[02:52.13] Lonely
[02:57.18] I wanna be a lion
[03:00.11] Yeah, everybody wants to pass as cats
[03:04.36] We all wanna be big, big stars
[03:06.95] Yeah, but we got different reasons for that
[03:10.96] Believe in me
[03:13.52] 'Cause I don't believe in anything
[03:16.45] And I wanna be someone to believe
[03:21.03] To believe, to believe
[03:23.62] Yeah!
[03:24.64] Mr Jones and me
[03:27.80] Stumbling through the Barrio
[03:30.50] Yeah, we stare at the beautiful women
[03:33.41] She's perfect for you
[03:35.72] Man, there's got to be somebody for me
[03:38.13] I wanna be Bob Dylan
[03:40.49] Mr Jones wishes he was someone
[03:42.98] Just a little more funky
[03:44.67] When everybody love you
[03:47.35] Oh! Son, that's just about as funky as you can be
[03:51.40] Mr Jones and me
[03:54.73] Starin' at the video
[03:57.64] When I look at the television, I wanna see me
[04:02.66] Staring right back at me
[04:05.19] We all wanna be big stars
[04:07.68] But we don't know why, and we don't know how
[04:11.30] But when everybody loves me
[04:14.79] I wanna be just about as happy as I can be
[04:18.67] Mr Jones and me
[04:22.05] We're gonna be big stars
[04:25.89]
