About Rooster

"Rooster" is a popular single by the grunge/metal group Alice in Chains. The song was released in 1993 and is featured on their second, full-length studio album, Dirt. It was written by guitarist Jerry Cantrell for his father, who served in the Vietnam War. His nickname was "Rooster." It is unknown where the nickname originated, but there is speculation that it may have been in relation to the 101st Airborne Division, in which Cantrell's father served. .

Rooster Lyrics

[00:54.72] Ain't found a way to kill me yet
[01:02.07] Eyes burn with stinging sweat
[01:09.09] Seems every path leads me to nowhere, hmm
[01:22.30] Wife and kids and household pets
[01:29.01] Army green was no safe bet
[01:36.32] The bullets scream to me from somewhere, hmm
[01:48.42] Here they come to snuff the rooster, ahh yeah
[02:01.50] Yeah, here come the rooster, yeah!
[02:13.09] You know he ain't gonna to die
[02:21.66] No, no, no, you know he ain't gonna to die
[02:32.75]
[03:13.56] Here they come to snuff the rooster, ahh yeah
[03:26.74] Yeah, here come the rooster, yeah!
[03:37.71] You know he ain't gonna to die
[03:47.17] No, no, no, you know he ain't gonna die
[04:00.41] Walking tall machine gunman
[04:06.72] They spit on me in my homeland
[04:13.64] Gloria sent me pictures of my boy
[04:26.74] Got my pills against mosquito death
[04:33.41] My buddy's breathing his dying breath
[04:40.45] Oh God, please won't you help me bring him through
[04:48.24]
[04:52.69] Here they come to snuff the rooster, ahh yeah
[05:05.23] Yeah, here come the rooster, yeah!
[05:16.76] You know he ain't gonna die
[05:25.05] No, no, you know he ain't gonna die
[05:35.77]
