Welcome to My Nightmare is a concept album. The songs, heard in sequence, form a journey through the nightmares of a child named Steven. Steven is a depressed mentally challenged mentally ill child who is trapped in a horrifying nightmare. The 1975 song Welcome to my Nightmare is a parody of the 1968 novel "There's a Nightmare in My Closet" .
